(DESIGNEDÂ in 2024)
For this project, I designed a promotional poster for a fictional jazz event called Jazz In The Valley, inspired by the Harlem Renaissance era.
I started by setting a black background in InDesign to create a bold/dramatic canvas for the design. Next, I searched for a photo of a musician playing the trumpet during the Harlem Renaissance period. I imported the image into Illustrator and used the Image Trace tool to give it a stylized, artistic effect.
Once I placed the traced image back into InDesign, I added a gradient at the bottom of the photo and created a triangle-shaped light effect. This made it look like stage lighting was shining directly onto the performer, adding depth and atmosphere to the design.
After finalizing the image treatment, I designed the Jazz In The Valley event logo, which is displayed at the top of the poster. I then added the event details, including the date, time, and bands that are going to perform.
At the bottom of the poster, I included the school logo and added my designer credit to close out the project.
